Jerry Cordonnier on quail hunting

Quail Hunting Member Since 1982

Last hunt of the season. Six quail for 11 year old Belle is a good day.

Just wanted to take a few minutes to say thanks for another excellent quail hunting season. I hunt by myself most of the time, as you know, so I don't usually try to turn it into a marathon. Some days I may hunt three or four hours and on other days I might hunt an hour or two. I averaged  about three covies a day which I think is pretty good for one guy with a ten year old dog. It says a lot for the quality of the lease land acquired by the club.

I tried not to take more than a bird or two out of a covey. I figure I'm not the only guy in the club that would like to get a few birds so I try not to get greedy. I get as many as I care to eat and don't really see much point in shooting more than that. I might add, Jon, that I never hunted the same property unit more than twice all season which is a real testimonial to how much good land is available.

Thanks again. I really appreciate all of the hard work you do putting all of this together.

Sincerely, Jerry Cordonnier

Jerry and Belle quail hunting.Dear John, I just want to take a minute to thank you and the MAHA staff for another enjoyable hunting season. This year was my twentieth in the club and every one of them has been memorable.

I guess I don't have to tell you that the bird population was down this year, but there were still enough birds to keep things interesting. I managed to get out about 25 times and found a little over fifty coveys and shot about 70 birds. I mainly just shot birds over points and tried not to take more than a bird or two out of a covey. I figured it was a good year to give the birds a break.

The good news is that it looks like there is plenty of seed left out there. If we can get a good spring to go along with the mild winter, the birds could bounce back real fast.

Once again I hade a great time, Some days the hunting is better than others, but every day was fun. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Sincerely, Jerry
