A long time upland bird hunting member with bird dogs capable of working pheasants in the open as well as close habitat. On quail his dogs are also proven performers far more so than these pictures indicate. Matt's only advantage over most is his knowledge of our lease land and the hot spots that many of the farms hold. He has this knowledge through experience of walking each lease to see what is over the ridge. His knowledge of the land to date ensures he has more than enough action for his limited field time than he has time to spend with his dogs. He also concentrates within one region with an occasional foray to another. He is an ethical hunter always careful not to over pressure any one farm through the season. A characteristic we track in our bird hunters. Thank you Matt for being the quality hunter you are. We hope for many more hunting seasons beyond the next 15!
Dear Jon, John and Jennifer,  For the first time in 15 years I am sending in some photos from this season. Once again, despite some of the negative rumors I heard prior to the season we had another great year. In fact, I think this was one of my most productive years harvesting over 35 pheasant roosters and most likely the same amount of quail.
I've really enjoyed the variety of habitat and the amount of different farms we've explored over the years.  Hopefully, I'll be able to enjoy another 15 years and 2 more generations of dogs hunting the fields leased by MAHA.
