John,
Got back yesterday afternoon from a great couple of days of quail hunting in [location deleted]. Got my limit on a four covey, 6 hour hunt on Saturday, and I harvested 6 quail on a 5 hour 3 covey hunt in a different unit on Sunday. Attached are a couple of pictures of my 5 year old female Brittany who has really come on this year. I hunt my old guys a little, but she does about 95% of the hunting. She is a real brush buster and that is what it takes as the ice storm last winter has added considerably to the brush and it is very hard for two leggers to get around. Not very many pheasants. I actually got into 5 coveys on Saturday; one covey was a strain of very large black birds (turkeys). My old guys pointed one in an open field and a pheasant load works well on a turkey head and neck at 20 yards.
Take care, Mike

Another hunt: "...the bird hunting was excellent..."
From two days of hunting.
This hunter has one senior dog, a second that is mature and a young one that carry's most of the dog work. He has been a member for a good number of years having developed a range of ground knowledge that always allows for a good hunt regardless of what the weather may bring within any one region.
He is also a trusted hunter in terms of providing honest assessments of upland bird hunting quality.

Thank you Mike for keeping us up on the bird counts.
